2024 Earth Rangers Backyard Biologist Photo Contest
Prize Details:
Earth Rangers is giving away 3 Grand Prizes (one for each category):
- Canon EOS Rebel R100 Camera (MSRP $799.99)
- Custom-framed print of the winning photo through Canon’s Frame Lab service

The Earth Rangers Backyard Biologist Photo Contest runs from September 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM EDT to November 18, 2024, at 11:59 PM EDT.
A panel of Judges will select 15 finalists (five in each category) based on the following criteria: (a) compelling representation of the photo category (50%); (b) photographic quality (25%); and (c) quality of the specimen identification process (25%).
The judging Panel will then rank the finalist photographs based on the same weighted criteria to select the Grand Prize winner in each category.
Winner Notification: Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges and contacted within 72 hours after the judging process.
Earth Rangers Contest Entry Rules:
The Earth Rangers Backyard Biologist Photo Contest is open to legal residents of Canada under the age of majority in their province or territory.
Parental consent is required, and prizes will be awarded to the parent or legal guardian on behalf of the entrant.

To participate in the Earth Rangers Backyard Biologist Photo Contest
- Download the Earth Rangers App and accept the Backyard Biologist mission.
- Choose one of the three themes: Backyard Safari, Critter Closeups, or Water Worlds.
- Snap a photo of wildlife related to one of the themes without assistance from others.
- Write a brief description (50 characters or more) explaining what’s happening in the photo and why it deserves to win.
- Submit your entry via the Backyard Biologist Contest page or through the Earth Rangers App.
Entry Limits:
- Each participant can submit one entry per theme, with a maximum of three entries during the contest period (one per category).
